Did you know...how long the Christmas season is?  It is actually from Dec 25 (Christmas Day-Jesus' Birthday) to Jan 5 (Epiphany Eve), popularly known as the 12 Days of Christmas.  Epiphany is Jan 6 when the 3 Wise Men arrived to see Jesus.

  • Saint for the Month: St Nicholas
  • Questions asked during class--
    • Did Adam & Eve go to Heaven?
      • After Jesus died on the cross, as stated in the Creed, "He descended into hell.  On the third day he rose again.  He ascended into heaven..."  Jesus went to hell, battled and rose from the dead, bringing all those that had died previously with him into heaven, including Adam & Eve.
    • Why is the third candle in the Advent Wreath rose?
      • Purple is a penitential color of fasting while rose (pink) is the color of joy.  The 3rd Sunday in Advent is Gaudete Sunday (from the Latin meaning "rejoice") which is taken from Philippians 4:4-5.  Rose is also used during Laetare Sunday (the Fourth Sunday of Lent).  Rose symbolizes an expectation of the coming joy of Christ's coming.

Did you know...Advent begins Sunday, 11/29/2020.  Our Liturgical year begins with Advent and ends with Christ the King.
